T.I. Sponsors Families to Visit Fellow Inmates

The more stories like this emerge, the more we can’t comprehend how somebody as sweet as T.I. is locked behind bars. This Memorial Day, T.I. found a way to give back. While he’s still incarcerated at the Forrest City Correctional Facility in Forrest City, Arkansas, he sponsored a bus trip for the 46 family members of 14 fellow inmates to visit the prison. (Read about T.I.’s prison release date.)
The family and friends who participated in the bus trip appropriately titled “To See a Love One” boarded a chartered bus in Atlanta and Alabama on Saturday. The visit was on Sunday and Monday, allowing them to spend time with the inmates over the long weekend.
T.I. told MTV News:
“I’ve been blessed to receive tons and tons of mail from my fans, family and friends, as well as get visits on a regular basis. Unfortunately some guys aren’t as fortunate. There are a lot of good dudes in here that haven’t been able to see there loved ones in years. Their families can’t afford the trip so I wanted to help out.”
In other T.I. news, his clothing brand, AKOO, is rolling its campaign “Salute the King”. The campaign invites T.I.’s celebrity friends from Diddy, Nelly, Hosea Chancez, B.o.B. and of course, all T.I. fans, to upload video messages to www.salutetheking.com.
At the website, you can find out more about T.I.’s career, browse video submissions and download exclusive contents for free. The campaign will also roll out to retail stores nationally with participating retailers hosting fan appreciation events and special promotions. Jeff Belizaire, Director of Marketing for AKOO Clothing stated:
“We’re providing the public with a positive and creative outlet to express their love and appreciation for TIP.”
After the good deed done by the King on Memorial Day weekend, isn’t it the best time to show him some love? Head on to www.salutetheking.com and say something to Tip.
